From todays AZ Republic.

The Rattlers may have lost receiver Cosmo DeMatteo for the rest of the season after he fractured his foot early in the second quarter of Saturday's season-opening 69-65 loss to the Georgia Force. An article in the East Valley Tribune states the same thing.

The worst part of this is, it's the kickoff play in which the ball banged off the wall behind the nets that should have been blown dead. The call was overturned but the end result was Nudo getting kicked out and DeMatteo breaking his foot.

Also from the AZ republic here is what Nudo will be doing.
Nudo, the team's general manager, said the Rattlers plans to bring in former Washington State receiver Kevin McKenzie, who was part of the Colorado Crush's 2005 ArenaBowl championship team. McKenzie has experience returning kicks off the net.

Oh piss. We are in trouble. With Groce gone, we were already light in the receiver's core. This does not bode well.

Cosmo was the best. Had lots of guts played hurt etc., the facts are the facts guys he is out for the year. They did sign a Kevin Mc somthing at WR who used to play for San jose in 2005. Coach Church was the D cord for San Jose in 2005. I think its possible he is behind this new guy, and if his past offensive choices are any indication of his ability (he picke Darrell Jones) he has another winner.

I grieve that Cos is gone, now we have to deal with what we have to deal with. The good news is Jones should be ready in three weeks. I also hear the new Kevin guy is very skilled at runing the ball back off the nets. That my friends is half the battle. to start on the 25 instead of the 2.5 yd line.

I was pissed when I heard this, especially since it could've been avoided has the refs stopped the game when they should have. But...I have faith that if this new guy has some height and can catch the ball that Bonner will keep our offense going.

Sure sucks don't it!!! I just talked to Cos's mother-in-law and she said he was back in Nashville and will have surgery on his foot as soon as possible. The upside is he can use the Tenn. Titans and Nashville Kats rehab facilities. I'll keep you posted. Plus he will get to see his wife everyday.

My Bad. The wife said Cos isn't coming to nashville for three more weeks. Sorry for the miss information.

One of by fellow Rattler fans told me he saw Cosmo at the Rattler game last night. He was at the pregame festivities in the Lexus club.
