I paid about $1400 in advance for next season. I called to see about a refund (or am I screwed?)

No one has called me back.
Gilbert_Fan
I paid in advance for my 4 tickets as well. Since this decision was made on Sunday night, you would think that the Rattlers organization would have emailed the season ticket holders so we wouldn't have to go through this kind of confusion. I shouldn't have to hear this on the radio on my way to work. Very disappointing - if the AFL is so fan friendly, then they should think about communicating with us before they make the public announcement.

And I'm disappointed about the season being cancelled - we really look forward to the Rattlers games. I hope that they will do the right thing and take care of the players.

I got a call back - the refund policy will be posted on the website on Friday.

If anyone is unsure what to do concerning leaving your season ticket money in the Rattlers account versus a full refund, I have a bit of advice.

You are now seeing the greedy owners totally screw the contracted players and the AFLPA. The next step the teams are taking is firing all employees and most teams are keeping a skeleton crew of about two people to handle all matters of each team. About 1/2 the teams have already done so. If we get any hint that they try to screw our Head Coach or ANY of the coaches, then you can bet they would SCREW the loyal season ticket holders.

First clue ---- Why would anyone offer 20% interest on their money in these trying times. No it's not to reward us. It's to intice us to leave the money in their account, and if they file bankruptcy, then all offers are off the table. This is one way for the Owners to buy some time with all of us.

WE as season ticket holders are the one who paid the money each year early, thinking their would be a next season. Well after trusting them, they not only took our money, those same owners cancelled the 2009 season. Those same owners new the league was in trouble when they all started selling their 2009 season tickets.

On the bright side, we do have an ownership group that has some balls, and fought hard with SJ, NY, and Tampa to keep playing. Chicago and Orlando fought for awhile but gave in quickly. My guess is that our ownership group and Brett (managing partner), have alot of money at stake and know they have to make their own model in which to be a profiting business, and if they don't play, their money invested is totally down the drain.

CAUTION: If too many season ticket holders ask for a 100% refund, then they still might file bankruptcy by February, and prevent having to issue those refunds anyway.

In short, if we see them screwing their own emplyees by layoffs, or the players under contract who fight on the field for those owners, or screw the current coaches under contract, then why would any of you trust the plan in leaving your money sit with the team? If they have all that season ticket money sitting their in the Rattlers vault, then why would their have to be any layoffs at all????????

I suggest that if you ask for a refund in writing, then you better send the letter more than once, and send it registered with delivery confirmation. If you used a credit card, start those refund requirements also.

Please don't be afraid that this so called fan friendly league will take your seats away from you if you ask for a refund. People, that is your money, not Brett Bouchy's. If they are to be trusted, then get your money and wait and see if they play in 2010 and wait for them to ask us all to come back and buy our regular seat assignments. If they don't honor that, then why would we even want to be accociated with them.

Rattlers, please do the right thing, and make sure you pay your coaches, as they all have families and came here to Phoenix trusting the ownership group. Also if you are really planning to play in 2010, keep your employees who are needed to keep your team running while restructuring your team and league budgets.

Big John,

I think you speak for many fans, and you say it very very well.

If you're a Rattlers season-ticket holder, I don't see any legitimate reason why you wouldn't request a refund and get your money back.

Yes, you could earn 20 percent interest on the money in your account. But if this leaky ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean after the Jan. 23 deadline for refund requests, you're screwed, and you'll never see a dime of your money again.

Yes, you could receive priority upgrades on your seats. But when you're Pro Fans, you're sitting on the front row anyway, and it's physically impossible to sit much closer. Think about it ... if Big John upgraded his seat, he would be on the field, then he would need a five-car garage for all his footballs.

Yes, your ticket prices will be frozen for the next three seasons, if there actually are three more seasons. That's a bunch of garbage. If the league ever starts again in this turbulent economy, the Rattlers would be stupid to make season-ticket prices as high as they would have been for the 2009 season. If anything, the prices will drop and stay low, making a price freeze completely meaningless.

If you're worried about losing the seat you've had for 16 years, don't be worried. If this thing ever gets going again, the Rattlers and all other teams in whatever is left of this league are going to be practically begging season-ticket holders to come back. You will not lose your seat, it's as plain and simple as that. You will not lose your seat.

You don't have to listen to my advice. You can leave your money with the Rattlers. You can pay the salary of J.T. Thompson, who surely will do even less work now than she did before, which wasn't really much. Thanks for answering your phone on Friday when concerned season-ticket holders were calling with refund questions. That's real professional, I'm sure my money will be safe in your hands.

I for one am requesting a full refund. I don't believe the AFL is a league that can come back after a 1 year layoff. I hope it does, because I love the Rattlers and love arena football, but I don't really see it happening. I wasn't old enough to know for sure, but didn't the USFL try the same thing a number of years back??? How many USFL games have you seen since then??? (NONE)

With a tough economy I think people will not spend money on tickets, and any money they do have for activities such as the AFL will be spent now other places and may not come back to the AFL if there is a 2010 season. Especially if getting a refund becomes a hastle, and if seats are given away/not renewed automatically because you asked for a refund on the 2009 season ticket package.

I sure hope they do the right thing and give the money back with no hastles, and when it comes time to start working on 2010 they treat all the season ticket holders as if we all purchased our tickets in 2009. (realistically we did, the league just canceled the season).
